GRAVEL CHASER SKIN

The perfect skin when you decide to let your bike take you on new adventures. It is an all-rounder for medium rough natural terrain, such as paths, gravel roads and forest roads. This skin features a fast-rolling centre tread designed to improve speed, while the higher shoulder knobs provide control and predictability when riding and cornering on uneven terrain.

At the end of your ride, remove the skin and use the fast-rolling reTyre One* base tyre to cover the rest of your journey on the paved road.

 For your next adventure, choose your bike!

* reTyre One base tyre is sold separately.
** This skin also works great as a rear tyre for lower rolling resistance, in combination with the reTyre Trail Rider Skin mounted on the front wheel, for even better handling and control.

Fast Rolling

The center and transition knob height is reduced to get a faster rolling skin

Predictable Cornering

The shoulder knobs are angled to optimize understeer traction and provide predictable handling and cornering

Soft Rubber

Our NXT rubber compound ensures optimal grip and traction even on wet terrain.

1. Pin position

Attach the starting point to both sides of the tyre before closing the zipper. Check that the starting point is properly attached before you begin to close the zipper.

2. Stretch

While closing the zipper, stretch the skin a bit to make sure it fits perfectly. Alternate between the sides while you close the zippers to reduce the resistance. The skin should meet itself at the end.

3. Puller

Finally, when the skin is installed, remember to close the puller into the locked position to secure it.

Can you use the Skins without the base tyre?

No, you need to buy a base tyre to use the reTyre system.

Do you need to deflate the base One tyre to zip on the Skin?

No. The Skins fit perfectly to base tyre (reTyre One) inflated and already used on your bike. No extra work required.

Which surfaces is this skin for?

Hard-packed ground, dirt paths and gravel roads.

Can I mix and match different skins?

Yes, you can.

Brilliant for us who use the same bike for different surfaces

"Super happy with my bike tires! Used reTyre base tires in Lodalen last week. Easily added gravel-skin with zipper for a tour in Eastmarka today. Brilliant for us who use the same bike for different surfaces!"

Great on Svalbard

Looking forward to going over to the Ice Racer skins now that it's October, but the Gravel Chasers have done a great job getting me around Longyearbyen and the surroundings this summer. Photo from Endalen (https://toposvalbard.npolar.no/?lat=78.18563&long=15.76916&zoom=9&layer=map), last ride of the autumn on the Gravel Chasers. Fine around town on the paved roads as well.

Great skin for everyday gravel riding

I bought the Gravel Chaser in order to get more grip in turns and on bumpy gravel road compared to the "One" tyre. It fully lived up to my hopes in improvement. Good grip on all kinds of gravel so far, and on paved roads it is not bad either.
I did notice some sand got in between the ends of the skin during rainy weather, which resulted in some noise, but it gradually reduced over time and is back to normal now.
Recommended.

Gravel Chaser Sizing Guide

Remember, Gravel Chaser adds approximately 4mm (0.23 inches) to the height and 14mm (0.5 inches) to the width of your reTyre One base tyre when mounted. In terms of standard sizing for tyres, the effective tyre size with skin is:

26'' = 50-559/26x2.0

28'' = 50-622/28x2.0

29'' = 57-622/29x2.25

Most bikes will fit reTyre, but to be sure you measure the areas depicted below

63 mm clearance for the 26” and 28”

72 mm clearance for the 29”

Fenders can also be a problem, but most are easily adjustable to fit reTyre.
