Nordic commuter - The next generation skin for urban commuters. We took all the best features from the award-winning Winter Traveler and made it even better. The grip is better, the weight is lighter and the fit is tighter on the base tyre. This is the ultimate winter tyre for the urban e-bike commuter.
160 Dual Compund Studs
With 160 studs made of tungsten carbide sitting inside an aluminum cloke you are certain to have great grip on icy roads.
The winter rubber compound is engineered and manufactured in Europe with our newly invented SFM technology which makes it lighter than its predecessor.
This Skin has a high number of edges which enhances the traction on icy roads.
Nordic Commuter adds approximately 5mm (0.2 inches) to the height and 14mm (0.5 inches) to the width of your reTyre One base tyre when mounted.
In terms of standard sizing for tyres, the effective tyre size with skin is:
- 26 = 50-559/26x2.0
- 27.5 = 57-584/27.5x2.25
- 28 = 50-622/28x2.0
- 29 = 57-622/29x2.25
The Nordic commuter skin can only be used with our ONE base tyre already mounted on your bicycle.
1. Pin position
Attach the starting point to both sides of the tyre before closing the zipper. Check that the starting point is properly attached before you begin to close the zipper.
While closing the zipper, stretch the skin a bit to make sure it fits perfectly. Alternate between the sides while you close the zippers to reduce the resistance. The skin should meet itself at the end.
Finally, when the skin is installed, remember to close the puller into the locked position to secure it.
Very happy with our new Nordic Commuters. Our family has been car free since moving to Vancouver over 12 months ago. My partner slid off her bike in icy conditions and I was tired of pushing the kids' stroller through the snow when I wasn't comfortable riding the bike. We decided to each buy a pair of winter tyres and we now have the base tyre on now as our regular tyres can quickly add the skins when waking up to any unexpected snowfall. They work perfectly and allows me to tow the kids in the trailer now regardless of the weather.
